Description:
Aluminum Hydroxide (Al(OH)₃) nanoparticles are high-purity, ultra-fine powders with excellent thermal stability and non-toxicity. They decompose endothermically around 180 °C, releasing water vapor and absorbing heat, which makes them highly effective as both a flame retardant and smoke suppressant.
In polymer applications, Al(OH)₃ nanoparticles are used as fillers and reinforcing agents in thermoplastics, thermosetting resins, and elastomers, offering an eco-friendly alternative to halogenated flame retardants. They also act as a feedstock for producing aluminum compounds such as specialty calcined aluminas, aluminum sulfate, polyaluminum chloride, aluminum chloride, zeolites, sodium aluminate, activated alumina, and aluminum nitrate.
Pharmaceutically, they are widely used in antacid formulations, reacting with excess stomach acid to relieve heartburn and acid indigestion. Due to their uniform particle size and high purity, they are also used in ceramics, catalyst supports, and coatings.
Applications:
Flame retardant systems: Heat absorption and water vapor release for fire protection.
Polymer additive: Filler and reinforcement in plastics and rubbers, improving thermal stability.
Medical uses: Active ingredient in antacid products.
Catalyst support & ceramics: Precursor for activated alumina and aluminum-based catalysts; used in fine ceramics.
Coatings: Fire-resistant and rheology-modifying component in paints and coatings.
Recommended Dosage:
Generally 1–5%, with optimization based on application-specific performance testing.
