Description

Graphene Oxide, 2–4 Layer, Dia: 8 µm, SA: 450 m²/g

Graphene oxide (GO) is a chemically modified form of graphene, composed of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen atoms in variable ratios. It retains the characteristic two-dimensional, layered structure of graphite, but offers enhanced chemical functionality due to its oxygen-containing groups. These functional groups allow GO to disperse easily in water and polar solvents, making it an ideal candidate for solution processing and integration into various composite systems.

With a specific surface area of approximately 450 m²/g and an average lateral diameter of 8 µm, this 2–4 layer graphene oxide material provides excellent coverage and surface reactivity. The few-layer structure enhances mechanical flexibility while preserving electrical and thermal conductivity at moderate levels, making it suitable for applications that benefit from both structural and functional performance.

Graphene oxide’s dispersibility and surface chemistry make it especially useful in the development of conductive coatings, transparent films, high-barrier packaging, membranes for filtration and water purification, supercapacitor electrodes, and next-generation solar devices. It is also widely used in graphene–polymer composites and graphene oxide paper, which are engineered for mechanical strength, chemical resistance, and flexibility.

Furthermore, GO acts as a reliable support material for metallic catalysts, enhances thermal management in electronic devices, and plays a critical role in the development of electrostatic dissipation (ESD) films. Its tunable chemical composition also makes it suitable for biosensor and chemical sensor applications in both research and industrial settings.
