It is a leapfrog technology for the electrification of the drivetrain. This technology is already being used in consumer electronics and power tools. It consists of the metallic Lithium anode and circuit cathode. Its main advantages include its replacement by sulfur, lightweight and inexpensive status. Materials include lithium metal oxides, olivines (like LiFePO4), vanadium oxides, and rechargeable lithium oxides. Electrolyte fills the spaces which are based on lithium ions carrying the charge from cathode to anode. The electrolytes of lithium batteries include polymer, solid-state or liquid electrolytes. A foam separator is used if the electrolyte is a liquid.
